SPECIALS See The Bigger Picture: DJI Mavic 2 Release

Today has been an eventful day of announcements from digital imaging heavyweights. DJI officially launches the DJI Mavic 2 with the See The Bigger Picture event live in New York City. Earlier this month, we posted about the various rumours going around the web about the specs, release dates and newer features it may have.

Here's what has been confirmed so far from their See The Bigger Picture event:
1. There are two models: The Pro and The Zoom. The original Mavic weighed in at 734 grams. DJI added some weight into the newer models with the Pro hitting 907 grams and the Zoom weighing in at 905 grams.
2. DJI partnered with Hasselblad for Mavic 2 Pro proving that there is no other drone and partnership of its kind in today's market. It's an historic moment in aerial imaging technology. It has a 1-inch CMOS sensor with an adjustable aperture of f/2.8 to f/11. It gives you the flexibility to capture images in bright or dim locations where you can shoot at any time of the day. It captures 4K Ultra HD with higher colour-depth and dynamic range and resolution than its predecessors. As it's a Hasselblad model, you have an access to its Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution - for improved colour and tonality in your photos.

3. The Mavic 2 Zoom is the world's first foldable consumer drone with a 1.23-inch CMOS sensor and 24-48mm optical zoom plus two times digital zoom. It gives you 96mm telephoto lens for 4K lossless zoom FHD video resolution. It has a super resolution with 48MP Super Resolution Photo and capable of stitiching nine detailed photos together. Saves you the time of stitching them on post.
4. The Mavic 2 Zoom also features enchanced HDR capabilities (13 stops Mavic 2 Zoom; 14 stops Mavic 2 Pro), Hyperlapse with a track modes: Free, Circle, CourseLock and Waypoint, Quickshot for a cinematic feel with Dronie, Circle, Helix, Rocket, Boomerang, Asteroid and the Dolly Zoom(popularised by Alfred Hitchcock), ActiveTrack with predictive lock for 3 seconds on the subject.

5. Both of the Mavic 2 models can fly up to 8km 1080p Video Transmission, up to 31 minutes of flight time, omnidirectional obstacle sensing, maximum speed of 72 kph on Sports Mode, OcuSync 2.0 and compatibility with DJI Goggles Series. It has an 8GB of Onboard Storage - just in case you forget your SD cards, DJI has you covered.

What We Know About Nikon's Full-Frame Mirrorless Cameras Z 6 and Z 7

Today's the day! Today, August 23, 2018, is an eventful day for Nikon as they formally announce the launch of the new Z-Moint System with the Z 6 and Z 7, the S-Line Nikkor lenses, and FTZ Mount Adapter. No longer a rumour and no more speculations. The day has finally arrived with an announcement straight from Tokyo, Japan no less!

We're still awaiting word about the Australian price and release date but here's what we know so far based from the launch:

1. There are two models named Z 6 and Z 7. The Z 6 is the 24.5-megapixel FX-Format Sensor with ISO range of 100-51200, 273-point Af and shooting at 12 FPS capable of high-speed, low-light shooting modes; the Z 7 is the 45.7-megapixel FX-Format Sensor with ISO 64-25600.

2. There are three lenses for the Z-Mount System and they are called S-Line with Nano Crystal Coat. The mirrorless cameras come together with the 24-70mm f/4 S, 50mm f/1.8 S and one more wide angle lens 35mm f/1.8 S. The lenses also benefit movie recording as it also aims to redefine what we expect of F/4.0 and F/1.8.

3. No reason to fret about possibly buying F-mount Nikon lenses or selling them. Nikon will also come out with an FTZ mount adapter that is compatible with at least 300 lenses.

4. Features-wise it has a large vari-angle touchscreen, 5-axis in-body stabilization system, XQD cards for storage and 493 AF points, 12fps burst shooting, 4K UHD 30p and Full HD at 120p, 8K timelapse videos, and an electronic viewfinder with a high-res 3.6-million-dot display.

5. In 2019, according to Nikon's lens road map, they will be releasing the Nikkor 55mm F/0.95 S NOCT which is the pinnacle of the S-Line.

6. For Japan, Nikon has already announced that they will be releasing the Z 7 at the end of September and Z 6 at the end of November. The 24-70mm f/4 S, 35mm 1.8 S and FTZ will be released at the end of September and 50mm f/1.8 S in October.

We're really excited about this Nikon venture and we sure you are, too! Nikon may have been late to the party but it sure knows how to make an entrance. As with this innovation, Nikon aims to be the number one in the full-frame market. Australian Price For The Nikon Z7 And Release Date

Nikon just raised the bar on full frame mirrorless cameras; it's called the Z Series with two models Z7 & Z6 plus 3 lenses and an adapter so you can use the vast range of F mount lenses on the new Z series cameras (look out Sony!)

We know a product is going to be popular when customers contact us weeks and weeks before the announcement and ask us for pricing, availability and wanting to know how to pre-order before the product is even official!

As we've mentioned previously, there's ALWAYS a delay with official pricing being released in Australia compared to the rest of the world but for once - we actually have a fairly firm price from announcement on some of the products!

Australian RRP Price for Nikon Z 7 + FTZ Mount Adapter has been set at $3499 and at Camera-Warehouse it will cost you $3448

Nikon Z 6 + FTZ Mount Adapter RRP is $5499 and price here will be $5448

So far, we are led to believe that the release date for the first shipment is expected to start shipping around October 2018.
